Las Vegas | Pt. 02

las vegas city guide

My second installment of my Las Vegas city guide is going to begin with the structures. Vegas is the only place (besides the Parthenon in Nashville) that makes me feel like I could be in a place that is completely different from where I actually am. Walking through The Venetian hotel, I got to watch people riding in boats with performers singing to them in what appeared to be Italy. In the New York, New York, I walked through the LES on my way to Chinatown for lunch. Some architecture resembles Greece, even. That’s one of the best parts of Las Vegas, the strange game of “where am I?”

Perhaps one of my favorite parts of Vegas was of course, the experience. We ate Dinner at Battista’s Hole in the Wall, a great place right off the strip. I absolutely loved the Beatles LOVE show at the Mirage. Seriously, splurge on it. It was so so good. We smoked hookah (highschool flashbacks anyone?), at Rhumbar, which was not my style from the outside, but we ended up having a lot of fun. Get the Old Cuban if you stumble there.

If you plan on doing some shopping in Vegas and you’re from a smaller city, definitely check out their Kate Spade and Topshop stores in the Fashion Show Mall. The Zara at that mall is pretty great too. My numero uno store to hit in Vegas is Allsaints. I have to save some money in case I go to this store, but it never lets me down, even if I’m just browsing. My boyfriend went a little nuts on this trip and wanted almost everything in the store.

As far as Vegas transportation goes, a limo from one end of the strip to the other is roughly $60, a cab ride is basically half of that, but cabs are hard to get. I tested out the Las Vegas Monorail, which was surprisingly easy. It’s $11 for a day pass or $5 for a single trip. It was quick and much better than the crowds when we actually had somewhere to be.

I got to share this trip with my awesome guy, Jeff. Thanks for coming along to a crazy weekend!

Lastly, I thought I’d make a mention of my room. If you get the chance in Vegas, take a nap. Just hang out. Sometimes staying inside your hotel room can be so calming, especially if it has a jet bathtub. Seriously.
