I think botanical gardens are rapidly becoming one of my favorite city stops. I really hadn’t thought about them much until recently. I totally love taking photos of plants, I love seeing the types of plants that are local to a specific place and I’m always trying to find out ways to keep myself moving and walking. I mean, botanic gardens are like my heaven! The truth is though, I didn’t even go to the Denver Botanic Gardens until two years ago and have barely even walked around half of the whole thing! I guess gardens are just one of those things I’ve not really thought about until I became an adult and also a museum worker. Anyway.
The Desert Botanical Gardens in Phoenix, Arizona are really truly worth seeing. The attraction is huge… we barely bade it through 1/3 of the gardens before we were tired and hot. Not to mention that my grandparents actually read nearly every placque and inspected every plant, whereas you can find me zooming ahead constantly looking for the perfect photographs and holding my iPhone out in strange angles trying to get a photo of a cactus without poking myself.
The Desert Botanical Gardens are humongous. It’s really quite incredible, if I lived in Phoenix I would absolutely purchase a membership here. The restaurant at the gardens was also SO GOOD. They have mussels and an incredible drink list that I was kind of enamored with. Definitely stop in an have a snack.
